Manitoba Medical Service Foundation (MMSF) celebrates the 2024/2025 award recipients
Details:

On April 16, attendees gathered at a reception hosted at Manitoba Blue Cross headquarters to celebrate this year’s remarkable MMSF research operating grant and early career award recipients.
The 14 successful research operating grant recipients (three of whom were jointly sponsored by MMSF and the Winnipeg Foundation) and two career awardees received a total of over $775,000—the highest annual funding amount in over 20 years.
“It was an honor to adjudicate and celebrate Manitoba researchers and their impressive range of important projects,” said Dr. Greg Hammond, executive director of the MMSF. “From the mental health of 911 operators to recurrent childhood leukemia, from neurodegenerative diseases to bacterial vaginosis—these projects are more proof that Manitoba is an active research hub. As always, we at the MMSF are proud to support such vital work while helping to boost the careers of our Manitoba researchers. Research funds from MMSF and Manitoba Blue Cross stay in Manitoba and help grow our research community.”
The reception featured a diverse range of academics, non-academics and professionals. Guests included representatives from research organizations, medical institutions, charitable organizations, educational facilities and provincial organizations, as well as board directors, senior leaders and staff from the MMSF and Manitoba Blue Cross—the primary supporter of MMSF for over 50 years.
In addition to Dr. Hammond, speakers included Dr. Peter Cattini (MMSF board chair), Dr. Jitendra Paliwal (Vice-President, Research and Innovation at the University of Winnipeg), Dr. Annemieke Farenhorst (Associate Vice-President of Research at the University of Manitoba) and Mr. David Tompkins (Vice President of Sales at Manitoba Blue Cross).
Congratulations to the awardees!
