MMSF alumnus Dr. Keith Fowke named Scientific Director of CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity
Details:

Dr. Keith Fowke has been named Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (III) for a four-year term, effective July 1, 2026.
As department head and professor of medical microbiology and infectious diseases at the Max Rady College of Medicine, Dr. Fowke is renowned for his multi-disciplinary, globally impactful research.
“MMSF was the first chapter in my career as an independent researcher, and none of the subsequent chapters would have been possible without that critical initial support,” he said.
Dr. Fowke received MMSF funding in 2003 and works with other MMSF alumni through his work in Nairobi, Kenya – a partnership that arose out of MMSF funding in the 1970s.
During his appointment, the CIHR Institute for Infection and Immunity will be headquartered in Winnipeg, proof of the impact that Dr. Fowke has had across the country and throughout the world.
