Dr. Anil Menon, MMSF alumnus, becomes head of Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry

Dr. Anil Menon, who received MMSF funding in 2024, has been appointed president of the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry (CAPHD).

An Assistant Professor and Division Head of Community Dentistry at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, Dr. Menon is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Dental Public Health and the Royal Society of Public Health (UK).

“Dr. Menon brings a wealth of clinical, academic, and leadership experience to his role as President of CAPHD,” the announcement reads. “His research focuses on improving oral health equity among vulnerable populations, including seniors in long-term care, low-income families, immigrants, and Indigenous communities across Canada. Dr. Menon has led and contributed to several nationally funded projects on seniors’ oral health, access to dental care, and the social determinants of oral diseases. In addition to his academic and research contributions, he has served in leadership roles with public health programs in Ontario, Nunavut, and First Nations communities in northern Canada.”

Dr. Menon was awarded MMSF funding for his project, “Oral health status and treatment needs of seniors in personal care homes in Manitoba.”
